A Message from the School Principal

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Website of LWIS-City International School (LWIS-CiS). Should you choose our school for your children’s education, we will do our best to assist you and your children settle quickly into our community, and help your children make the most of this educational opportunity.

On December 2011, LWIS-CiS received official accreditation by the New England Association for Schools and Colleges (NEASC) with outstanding commendations. The Accreditation Visiting Team recognized LWIS-CiS as “global education conceptually at its best, translated into practice by people committed to the Mission and Vision”. The school received continued accreditation in 2025, being recognized as a school with a “growth mindset”. We move forward with this caliber, and continue to strive for excellence. LWIS-CiS was authorized to offer the IBDP program in 2018.

LWIS-CiS is part of the Learner’s World International Schools (LWIS) Network that was founded in 1997. Our campus is located in the heart of Beirut, bustling with individuals from different countries from around the world, with different religious, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.

At LWIS-CiS we believe that We Measure Success One Happy Learner at a Time, and ultimately that our children are the cornerstone of our society. Hence, providing these future leaders with the very best education is necessary.

At LWIS-CiS we accomplish this through a holistic approach whereby every child is individually catered to. This is done through a curriculum that is multi-leveled and varied in its academic offerings and includes emphasis on character building skills and social development. We offer the Lebanese Baccalaureate Programme, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and the American High School Programme, we also offer courses of English as a second language. Governance Systems

The health of the school depends upon having a responsible and effective system of governance which assures that the school remains true to its mission and has the necessary resources to support its operation.
BOT Responsibilities
The Board of Trustees’ responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Being responsible for the institution and its mission as a whole, and not for the separate constituencies.
  • Planning, developing and establishing policies.
  • Setting the policy of the financial condition of the school, approving budgets and monitoring them (checks and balances).
  • Ensuring that the physical plant of the school serves the mission of the school.
  • Organizing and managing itself to fulfill its duties with bylaws, policies and procedures.
  • Contracting, if and when needed, educational or other consultants to oversee the school’s development, advising on the hiring criteria for the School Principal, assisting in recruitment and training, and developing the school’s improvement plans in line with LWIS-CiS’s mission and vision.
  • Appointing the School Principal and the School Auditor.
How is the Board of Trustees appointed?
LWIS-CiS BOT is appointed by Beirut Educational Corporation (BEC).
  • The Board shall include expertise in educational and business affairs as well as public relations.
  • The Board should include at least three members of (BEC) or others nominated by members.
  •  The number of Board members will not exceed seven.
  • The Board shall be appointed for a term of four years indefinitely renewable.

The School Principal

Dr. Simhairi holds a doctorate degree in Mathematics and Management Science from Royal Holloway College, University of London. He has 31 years’ experience in education in Lebanon as a teacher, Head of Department, School Principal and Chairperson of a school Board of Trustees.

In addition, he is a Senior Consultant and Trainer for staff development, training and appraisal, with the experience of putting three schools through accreditation with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Dr. Simhairi headed the accreditation process for LWIS-City International School (LWIS-CiS) Lebanon, whereby LWIS-CiS has become accredited by NEASC. He has also been trained in applying the NEASC ACE international standards governing the entire process of accreditation beginning with self- assessment.

His experience in school development includes tasks such as initial planning, financing, building specifications, equipping, recruiting, training and development, and school improvement planning through the development of strategic and action plans. As a consultant, Dr. Simhairi is responsible for designing training programs, overseeing/implementing training, as well as monitoring and evaluating the overall impact of the training.
